The waist is tight and the length of the shorts are a little longer then I'd like for my almost 7 year old.Got a youth medium for my 4' 6" 72lb 10yr old. Fits fine. We bought this to see if it would be suitable to use for uniforms & we would do our own trasnfers, but the material is a little thinner than expected. Fine to use for practice though. I have him wear compression shorts underneath because as he moves the little holes sometimes line up between the two layers of material & it becomes semi see-through.These shorts appear to be about the same quality as more expensive shorts. However, they run small around the waist. My son is size 7 and very active an doesn't have an ounce of fat on him. Good thing since these shorts are small around the waist. If these were made with a cotten blend, they would not fit him after the first washing. Probably should have gone with a YM.Bought this and a green pair for my 7 year old niece who plays basketball. Her Mom told me that she wears them a lot and love them. So if the niecey is happy, I'm happy!It is fine for a 6 year old boy who wears a 7-8. I ordered the youth small and it fits just fine. It is a little "see through" so don't wear bright underwear.runs smallThey are a little thin, but priced right.My daughter says they are comfortable.Great gym shorts for the kids.The shorts are the right color and a good fit for my 7 year old.
