I really enjoy this product's aesthetic. The engraved surface looks and feels much greater than it looks in the photo. This unit came formatted with NTFS / MBR. However, I found that it has less capacity than advertised. Please see the comparison with Samsung T5 2000 GB drive. Windows 10 shows 1,950,386,618,368 bytes = 1816.44 GiB = 1.77 TiB (= 1.95 TB) instead of 1.81 TiB (= 2 TB). Because all the hard drive manufacturers define 2TB as 2,000,000,000,000 bytes, it is NOT a binary/decimal conversion problem. It really lacks capacity.I don't know if my unit has a defect, or the other units are the same. I left an inquiry on Seagate customer support, but they didn't try to understand the real capacity loss. They repeated that it will vary by how I initialize the disk even though they provided pre-formatted drive. I was advised to check the capacity with Seagate Seatools.I found Youtube videos that use this drive in XBOX and show 1.7 TB available, while WD Elements show 1.8TB. If it is intended, I assume that the 50GB might be a reserved space for CMR caching for this SMR drive. Fortunately, I've never seen any SMR-related performance drop yet.At a desktop PC, one USB 3.0 port showed 130 MB/s read and 30 MB/s write, while another USB 3.0 port showed 130 MB/s read and 130 MB/s write. It might be a power delivery problem. If your unit shows very slow write, just try on another USB port. Finally, Crystal Disk Info shows SATA300 / SATA600 transfer mode, which means the internal SATA3 drive is connected with SATA2 USB bridge chip. Even though the enclosure looks fantastic, you will not be satisfied if you replace the internal hard drive to any SSD.First, the item arrived so much faster than anticipated.Second, the set up was wildly easy and effortless.Third, my husband is so excited to now have and additional 4 terabytes of memory and it has thus far worked perfectly. We got it on a black Friday sale and I wish I would have bought one for myself as well! Not compatible with the new Xbox X series. I read reviews before I purchased and thought it would be.No game pass included, and only 3.6 TB of storage. Will be returning.I have had this for around 6 months, I probably play Xbox a couple times a month at most and just went to turn it on today and it no longer shows up. Salu2.Alex.I purchased the 4tb Seagate Xbox Gamepass Special edition to extend the storage on my Xbox One S (1tb) back in October 2018 for £99. Initially like many I was happy with the greatly extended storage and with the gamepass subscription and now gamepass Ultimate even the mighty 4tb drive was usually over 75% used. The problem with the drive however came on swiftly and unexpectedly on Wednesday 17th of July. After a quick morning session of DeadRising 4, installed on the seagate drive - I turned my xboxone S back on at dinner time to watch shows through the prime app (installed on the internal HDD) but the xbox controller wouldn't sync. Here I was fearing that the controller had a fault but persistence caused it to connect. Note; no obvious HDD related issue at this point. That night I boot the xbox up again and again the controller fails to sync - persistence is rewarding however but when I go to games I quickly notice that rather than the 70+ usually installed there are only 12. The xbox cannot pick up the Seagate drive.I attempt usual trouble shooting advice. I try the drive on all 3 of the consoles USB ports. I power cycle the console. I unplug the console entirely. I didn't have a spare usb to microB type cable to try that so I ordered one through Prime.Cable arrived this (Friday) morning but unfortunately the cable is not the problem. I've also tried connecting the Drive to both my windows 10 PC and my partners (where it is also undetected on both) and running Seagate Seatools software. The Seatools stops responding while scanning for USB scis drives. To summarise after ruling out the console ports, cable connections and such I can only Conclude the drive or it's USB controller part has failed suddenly without warning even if when it's connected the power light on the drive still lights up. Final note, withouth the drive connected to the xbox, suddenly the controller syncs every time again on power up as expected. While I have no way of knowing I assume the xbox was doing the same as the PC and not responding while scanning for the usb drive causing it to affect it's other processes.Arrived in a small box with airbag packaging, however, the drive was at the bottom of the box and not encased. I can only guess that it has been handled heavily because, on install, the drive was making a regular unnerving clicking noise. suspecting the worse, I found the XBox One X couldn't format the drive. I tried front and rear USB ports. It would attempt to format, then come up with the option to format again. The drive wasn't showing in the storage settings. So onto the PC, installed Seagate's Seatools suite. Plugged the drive in and this time Windows 10 allowed me to format. Tested the drive in Seatools - errored:-------------- SeaTools for Windows v1.4.0.7 ---------------20/01/2019 22:02:09Model: ExpansionFirmware: 9300Short Generic - Started 20/01/2019 22:02:09Short Generic - FAIL 20/01/2019 22:03:51SeaTools Test Code: 9EB1A3CD"Unfortunately, your Seagate product has failed an important diagnostic test, possibly caused by problem sectors which are difficult to read. Now is a good time to make sure that you have a current backup of your important data. If you have not done so already, please consider running the Long Generic test on your external drive. This test has the ability to repair problem sectors that are difficult to read. Fragile drive and returning to replace with something more robust.had it for 9 months on xbox one then plugged it into series x for another yeari had over 2tb of games installed that i now have to redownload good job save files are in the cloudso lasted like 20 months now xbox cant detect it tried different usb ports new wires even in my pc no luck so gotta spend £80 for another one going with a different brand this timetook it apart and took side case off pc n plugged drive in directly n nothing so ye its drive itself thats dead not connectionswas expecting to get more out of itSeagate is a very reliable product so when I needed an external hard drive for my Xbox One X I decided to go for the game pass Xbox version as its meant to be plug and play. the delivery service was very quick and when it arrived it was simple to install as it described all you need to do is plug and play, the reason for the overall 4 stars after only 1 week it decided to stop working and one of my games just wouldn't load. I decided to reinstall back onto my console and the game worked fine this is why I knew it was the external drive, I took out the extra insurance as I always do, but speaking with amazon they provided me with a replacement no problems and my insurance is still active and not been used, this one I have is working fine and no problems, just being careful that sometimes the external hard drive can stop working and you may need to get a replacement, hopefully, this one works longer as they actual storage is great.
