For those of you who don't know BattleTech and are looking for a gift for someone you care about, this is either the single best gift for them or the single worst. If they are new at the game, do not buy this. Find out what faction they like and buy them a Lance (if it's an Inner Sphere faction) or a Star (if it's a Clan faction). The Urbanmech is a meme 'Mech. It very rarely sees play, as it's too slow to be effective at its size, and doesn't have enough armor. But players love the Urbie. It looks like a trash can with feet, and it (in most variants) carries a very large gun.LAMs are Battlemechs which can convert from walking tank to fighter plane and back. I'm oversimplifying, here, but I'm not talking to the hardcore. I hope. In all of BattleTech, there have been six official LAMs which saw production (as opposed to one-off prototypes and the like). The Urbanmech is not one of them. There are no official BattleTech stats for the UrbieLAM. It was originally created as a one-off April Fools' Day joke for a Kickstarter project. And the target audience laughed. And then this box showed up at a convention, and the BattleTech fan internet went NUTS.Because - again - we love the Urbie. It's a niche piece. This box is three figures - they are intended to be one Urbanmech LAM in its three different forms (BattleMech, AirMech, and Aerospace Fighter), but you could theoretically run it as three different Urbies. They're well-detailed, and lovingly crafted. And I do not regret my purchase even a little.
